Bring the green heart of the city into your home and garden.
Many of the plants are grown within the nursery either from seed or cuttings taken from the city’s parks. Some of the stock is brought in from reputable suppliers and grown on.
We stock:
- bedding and other outdoor plants,
- hanging baskets and filled containers,
- basket plants,
- shrubs and herbaceous perennials,
- edible plants,
- herbs, and
- bulbs.
Our knowledgeable staff are happy to offer expert advice and help you choose the perfect plant.

Prices
Our prices are very competitive as there are no transport costs and the plant shop is supported by a team of volunteers.
The profits from plant sales are reinvested into the Nursery itself. 10% of the proceeds from our Christmas poinsettia sales are donated to the Lord Mayor’s charity each year.

Bute Park Nurseries is located in the centre of Bute Park next to the Visitor Centre and Secret Garden Café. We’re a short walk from the Millennium Bridge entrance to the west, and the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama / Fishers Bridge entrance to the east.
There is no vehicle access to collect your plants from the shop.
You can park up to 30 minutes for free in the North Road car park when picking up items from the plant shop.

Bute Park Nurseries were originally developed as a kitchen garden and produce store to feed the Bute family and their staff.
The nurseries now produce and distribute many thousands of plants for the city.
A riot of colour and activity at peak growing times
The working nursery is closed to the public but we often run guided tours so you can see what goes on behind the scenes.
